We never miss an opportunity to advise Hades, a true little wonder that will get you hooked from the first game. In this very bold reinterpretation of Greek mythology, we personify the son of the god of the underworld. This atypical hero has only one desire: to leave his father to enjoy the freedom he deserves. The result is an adventure based on repeating failures in order to win in the end. As a bonus, an exemplary narrative with a universe that we gladly deepen with each attempt.

Remnant: From the Ashes in a way it’s a first-person version of Dark Souls where we’ve replaced magic, swords and axes with firearms. And we have to admit that the changes have done the job, guaranteeing a new experience. The design, of course, is a little ascetic, but the attention to the mechanics of shooting – recoil, reloading, sound effects – needs to be emphasized. You have to hold out a little, then you no longer see the hours go by.

Don’t be fooled by the looks: Behind its 1930s cartoon-worthy graphics, Cuphead undoubtedly hides one of the most difficult challenges of recent years. Very old-fashioned gameplay relies not only on reflexes, but also on learning and self-sacrifice. At some levels, we are tearing our hair out, knowing that the easy mode is just an illusion: in fact, it does not allow you to progress.

Fury defined as boss rush, namely a video game that is based solely on fighting against strong opponents. Some will see this as a limit. We promised ourselves not to put games reminiscent of Dark Soul in this collection. We will make a slight deviation from the rule with Splash 2. While the first opus is decent but polished to perfection, this sequel does much more to confirm the ambition of this sci-fi reread of the genre popularized by FromSoftware. More beautiful, longer and, above all, better manageable, Splash 2 relies on an interesting mechanic, which consists in the ability to dismember enemies in order to restore the resources necessary for survival. Yes, it’s violence.

The trick is to constantly switch depending on what’s happening on the screen. You must be fast and careful.
