Interview conditions

This article is a transcript of several interviews that took place on Friday, May 27, 2022. We managed to communicate with the Jurassic World Dominion team via videoconference. More articles covering other topics discussed with the crew will follow shortly.

What is PS4?

When we have the opportunity to meet Hollywood stars, we always ask them if they play video games. The cast of Jurassic World Dominion is trying their hand at it.

JV: Jeff Goldblum, in 2019 you said you’ve never played a video game in your life, not even the ones you’ve played. But since then, the regime of self-isolation has been in effect. Did you take the opportunity to start?

Mamudu Ati : (to Jeff Goldblum) I’m going to give you a PS4. PS5 is impossible to find.

Jeff Goldblum A: I want to hear about it. I don’t know what PS4 is, I don’t know what PS5 is. You know, I did an episode on The World According to Jeff Goldblum and admitted to the public that I may have played some levels of Miss Pac-Man or Pong. But since then I have never played video games and I know that I voiced Jurassic World Revolution. No, evolution.

Mamudu Ati : (to Jeff Goldblum) Do your kids play video games?

Jeff Goldblum : No, we tried to get our children away from the screens so that they would talk to people and be in nature, because I saw children get lost in things. It is sad. I chatted with Colin Trevorrow, a wonderful father…

Mamudu Ati : He is a genius.

Jeff Goldblum : He’s a genius, and he said, “Oh no, there are good video games, I limit the time they play, but there are also very good ones, I like some of them.”

Mamudu Ati : Colin Gamer!

Jeff Goldblum : Fully! Yes, so you all know that. (to Mamoudou Ati) Now tell me, do you like video games?

Mamudu Ati : I will make you play, I have something to advise you.

Jeff Goldblum : GOOD !

Mamudu Ati A: But I don’t have a PS5 on PS4.

JV: Jurassic Park is a franchise that we could find in many video games. Have you played video games adapted under license?

Colin Trevorrow A: I played the original Nintendo game and played Trespasser. Trespasser is great! And of course our games. You know, we have Evolution and Evolution 2 that just came out, they are really complex and beautiful games. Everyone at Frontier has done an amazing job, it’s great to have that level of achievement in what it’s like to handle dinosaurs.

isabella sermon A: I haven’t played Jurassic Park games, but I’m not very good at video games. If I was, I would definitely play one of the Jurassic Park games.

voice of reason

JV: Bryce Dallas Howard, you voiced Claire in the video game Jurassic World Evolution 2. Is that different from playing the character in the movies?

Bryce Dallas Howard A: The team that made these games, I’ve enjoyed getting to know them over the years, and we’re having a lot of fun making these records. We often do multiple sessions. What’s usually interesting about video games is that I play a version of the old Claire, there’s a Claire park and a “fixed” Claire, and a lot of times in games I record voices that switch from one personality to another. I would say that this is perhaps the only difference with games. (to Devanda) Have you played any of the games?

Devanda the Wise : I’m still stuck on Lego!

Bryce Dallas Howard : Wait until you get to video games!

JV: Devanda Wise, would you like your character to be a video game heroine?

Devanda the Wise A: That would be very cool. I mean, a lot of what she is is just a sea of adventure. In my imagination, she lives on this plane, has been to many places, can go anywhere, whenever she wants. It’s business as usual for a video game!

Dino Crisis?

JV: There’s a scene at the end of the movie where a giant dinosaur smashes the control room window and threatens to eat everyone with its mouth inside. This scene is reminiscent of the video game Dino Crisis. Was a Capcom game an inspiration?

Colin Trevorrow A: Oh yes, I also read it somewhere. I know about Dino Crisis, but I don’t remember the time. For me, it was inspired by the high shelter in the Lost World, remember, they went up very high and the dinosaur couldn’t reach them, so we thought that BioSyn would have such high huts that could go up and down to explore them. We designed it, and we thought this thing was bigger than they imagined and might be able to stick its head in there.
