While this time of year is usually busy with new announcements and news, a lot of what’s shown isn’t ready to hit the public’s hands for a while, meaning we’re being bombarded with trailers, but it’s very unlikely we’ll actually try out these anticipated titles. . Luckily for the PC gaming community, Valve is also hosting a summer Steam Next Fest event that gives Steam users the chance to dive into a range of demos of upcoming games. With countless suggestions, I’ve spent time looking for demos that you should try before this Next Fest is over.
Midnight Battle Express
If you like John Wick and the idea of facing immeasurable odds alone, may I bring your attention to Jacob Dzwinel’s action movie Midnight Battle Express. The idea behind this game puts players in the shoes of a sleeper agent who has been activated to prevent the entire city from being taken over by a criminal organization. In gameplay, you’ll see yourself punching, kicking, and generally kicking butts from an isometric perspective, all at an incredibly fast pace that feels fluid and interesting.
Midnight Fight Express will release on August 23, 2022.
Life can be stressful and sometimes you’re just looking for a way to relax and unwind. HiWarp’s indie adventure game Naiad is the perfect title for this as it’s easy to play, calming and a little dreamy. The game challenges the player to guide a water creature along a river where you will encounter ducks, fish, other animals and a variety of flora, all presented in a vibrant color palette and with a striped relaxed sound on top.

Naiad is expected to debut later this year.
Worship the Lamb
I recently wrote a short review of this game because of how impressed I was with the demo. Created by Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital, this game invites you to create and develop a cult as a possessed lamb who has been saved from execution by an ancient deity. It’s an action roguelike with life sim elements, which is why I described it in my preview as The Binding of Isaac meets Animal Crossing, and in my opinion it’s going to be one of the best indie games of the year.
Cult of the Lamb will be released on August 11, 2022.
Its description of The Cub depicts The Cub as “The Jungle Book meets Armageddon” and that’s because in this game, players guide a forgotten boy through a dystopian futuristic Earth where even the people from the Martian colony are there to get you. Developed by Demagog Studio, this platform game is about jumping, swinging and climbing through dangerous levels in a design similar to classic Sega games.
The Cub does not currently have a release date.
Diving meets land in Mintrocket’s marine adventure game Dave the Diver. Inviting players to take on the role of Dave, this game has you head out into the deep dark ocean to fish all kinds of fish and then return in your vehicle to the local sushi restaurant where you have to help serve customers and manage the business. . Imagine Hungry Shark dating Diner Dash and that’s what Dave the Diver wants to bring to life.
Dave the Diver coming soon.
foot of anger
After seeing the trailer for this game, I didn’t know what to expect. But after playing the demo of Anger Foot, I’m absolutely convinced of what Free Lives has to offer. This game is similar to Ghostrunner and challenges the player to use their deadly legs to fight their way through levels filled to the brim with hostile enemies who want nothing more than to defeat you. It’s incredibly fast, incredibly bizarre, and accompanied by a vibrant soundtrack, all of which combine to create a truly unique experience.
Anger Foot will go on sale in 2023.
If you like RPGs and survival gameplay, let me direct you to Frozen Flame. This game from Dreamside Interactive allows players to relax in a harsh world that was once home to dragons. With all sorts of deadly enemies, tons of astounding locations to explore, and a wide range of weapons and gear to craft, it’s like a game that will get harder and harder to quit with every extra minute spent playing. It.
Frozen Flame will release in Fall 2022.
While I admit that the demo was a bit lacking, what I’ve experienced in Thunder Ray so far has left me very intrigued for the full game. Designed as an arcade boxing experience from Purple Tree, Thunder Ray asks you to enter the ring as the strongest boxer on Earth, where the idea is to go head-to-head and defeat a number of boxers among the formidable ones in the universe using a combat control scheme. which allows you to dodge, weave punches, uppercuts, and land all sorts of explosive strikes to knock down your opponent’s heavy health bar.
Thunder Ray will debut on September 15, 2022.
Be sure to check out the demos for each of the games we’ve highlighted, and also be sure to let us know of any interesting demos you come across in the comments below.
